3 Ways to Protect Yourself During the Holidays (Closet Witch Friendly)

Everyone could use a little protection over the holidays, whether it’s due to family problems, or something as simple as wanting safe travels. Or, maybe for some, it’s protection from the family discovering your witchy behavior.

No matter the situation, sometimes it can be nice to have a little extra security on your side. So in today’s post, I’ll be sharing three tips for closet-witch-friendly protection for the holidays.

The first is simple, and extremely affordable: grab a tumbled protection stone.

Charge it with your intention when you can, and simply carry it in a pocket, in a boot, or hidden in your hair. I often just keep it in my pocket though so I have something to fiddle with when feeling anxious. Some good stones are any red or black stones: black tourmaline, snowflake obsidian, or garnet.

The second is a little more elaborate: a protection sachet that’s small enough to fit in your pocket or boot.

Grab a little sachet and fill it with salt, ash (if you burn incense, you can grab it from there, or take it from a family fireplace when no one is looking), and some kitchen herbs like basil or rosemary. You can also add other herbs and crystals that correspond with different protections you want. Perhaps if you’d like to sweeten everyone’s moods, adding some sugar would help, or if you’d like to better communicate with your family, blue calcite might be good.

If carrying it on you is too much of a risk, you can definitely leave it hidden somewhere at home and trust that it’s working from a distance.

Lastly, try some jewelry charms!

We’ve done a whole post on how jewelry can be magickal – all in secret too. But sometimes holding a piece of jewelry, regardless of whether it has a corresponding crystal or is just a random ring you bought, and thinking and filling it with intention by meditation and focus can be really all you need.
