Hunter's Moon: Super Moon in Aries

The full moon in Aries, which is a super moon, peaks on Thursday, October 17th, bringing to a close a 6 month healing cycle and a path to new beginnings. This moon is a super moon meaning that its effects are strengthened, especially for those with planets or angles in cardinal signs near the 24th degree. Those with such placements are scheduled for new beginnings and a release from difficulties of the past. We have learned more about ourselves since the Aries Solar Eclipse set off a 6 month journey of healing which we are now ready to be released from. In classic Aries fashion, we must decide now what to do with this new beginning and the new self we have distilled during this time period. This moon is a green light, begging us to take action yet asking us to base that action off of what we have learned over the course of the eclipse season and the larger Aries/Libra eclipse series. Aries is a sign of impulsivity but in this case, there is no reason for us to leap without looking because we have been given all the information we need to see where it is that leap might take us. Instead of being rash, we are asked to be bold and daring, to take a chance on what we want and go after what makes us feel alive and electric. Mars in Cancer is acting cautious and can be worrisome, wading through the emotions, but it has learned more about its desires through understanding that emotional landscape, and hopefully we are able to do the same. The goal is to connect your passion (Mars) to what makes you feel fulfilled and nurtured (Cancer).

This moon is supported by a tense, but encouraging Grand Cross with Pluto and Mars as well as a harmonious sextile with Jupiter. Venus and Uranus make a heavy impact as well, as they stand opposite one another in the late degrees of Scorpio and Taurus, respectively. This is the first moon after eclipse season but it is still moving in alignment with the themes of the Aries/Libra eclipse series and keeping our attention on our relationships and the dynamic we have around them and our own empowerment, desires and ambitions. Mars as the ruler of this full moon means that Mars in Cancer will have lessons and gifts for us. This may come by way of strong emotions or reactions, and we might have to go back into our roots or the past of childhood to undo the patterns we find ourselves unconsciously responding to. This moon is conjunct the asteroid Chiron, so healing is the main focus and intention of this lunation. Luckily, this particular healing journey has already been underway, beginning on the Aries Total Eclipse on April, 8th, so this marks the end of the cycle. Hopefully we have learned from our wounds and are now ready to move on and create new experiences that have no connection to our prior wounds. This full moon brings the opportunity to move forward in new ways in our relationships, our art and our values.

Relationship Revolution: Venus in Scorpio Opposite Uranus in Taurus

Uranus in Taurus is opposite Venus in Scorpio, who moves into Sagittarius later that day further reflecting to us the message of a shift within the matters of Venus in our lives. Venus rules over our relationships, our values and our art as well as the themes of beauty, harmony, pleasure and sensuality. Venus in Scorpio is intense and calculating while Sagittarius moves us into a more spontaneous and experimental energy. Uranus is bringing revolution to Venus matters, especially our relationships, so we are asked to bring curiosity to the new that is unfolding and to play around with it instead of thinking we must land on something at this moment. Much of what is changing is the way in which we think about relationships and the way in which we change ourselves for them. Or, we could be on the opposite end and our refusal to compromise or fear of losing ourselves in any way for another may be keeping us from deepening relationships that could bring meaning and value into our lives. Either way, this is the time to question the relationship patterns you have acquired and ask yourself what is necessary to let go of so that you may connect with more love, pleasure and harmony in your life. As always with Uranus, there is a aspect of something unexpected or shocking happening to reveal or spearhead this inquiry, and it’s very likely due to the involvement of Chiron that this presents as a surprising situation that reveals to you how much you have changed, grown and healed from past version of yourself. If that's the case, this is the time to try a new way of being or acting, or to begin telling yourself a new story, one that will be in alignment with the truth of who you have realized yourself to be.

Supportive Tension: Grand Cross with Pluto in Capricorn and Mars in Cancer

A grand cross is made up of squares and an opposition. In this case, the moon is square with Pluto and Mars and opposite the Sun. This is bringing tension and due to the involvement of the two warring planets, Pluto and Mars, power struggles may come up and conflict may be prevalent. However, this grand cross is supportive and can be a breakthrough instead of something to fear. The grand cross is helping us put tension on what needs to be pushed so that we can direct this powerful energy into a channel. This is a call to action and we are asked to dig deeper when conflict or tension arises, to allow it to be the seed of change and action. This energy is here to get things moving after a time period where we have been doing a lot of reflecting and re-visiting things past. Aries is the master of Mars energy, and as such it knows how to transform its anger into passion and constructive action. We may be pushed into being reactive but it's on us to direct that energy into the healthiest and most productive outlet. Those outlets are available and they are waiting for that surge of energy. Creative projects are particularly aligned with this energy and this lunation.

The Way Out: Jupiter Sextile Moon and Chiron

Jupiter sextile the Moon sheds insight on how to be released from the bind Mars and Pluto have us in. Jupiter is showing us the way to channel this energy and how to direct it into the best outlet. It asks us to be curious, open and optimistic. Most of all, it asks us to hold on to a larger faith and trust in the process. We can’t foresee how it will all line up so we must find something to hold onto that will give us hope to keep working. With the influence of Jupiter, this lunation may bring you that hope or a renewed faith if you have lost it. New opportunities or aligned meetings may take place and glimmers can be everywhere. Jupiter adds a touch of magic and expansion and is strengthening the power of this moon to bring positive change.

Recap

The full moon in Aries is bringing action and clarity on where and how to act. It asks us to utilize tension to our advantage, to be motivated to transform ourselves and the things around us, especially our relationships. A Chiron in Aries cycle of healing began on the Total Solar eclipse in Aries 6 months ago and now we are at the end of that cycle. This is a moment of cathartic release and a time to be bold and take action towards what it is that you want. It's time to see ourselves in a different light, as empowered and healed beings, and then it is time to act that way. We are meant to question what has always been and we have been given the fire and will that we need to begin to change it.
